STATEMENT
I must put myself through mental and physical abuse to conjure these unique works of art. When you look at my gallery, not only are you viewing art, you will witness visions dealing with the conditions of our modern violent culture, visions from which the future is made, and our hidden past. I tend to show what people like to turn away from, not to offend per say rather to accept it and deal with the problems they reveal.
Every great civilization has been inspired by the arts. The Greeks used theatre and art to philosophize, and in my own way, the art I create is a philosophy, that will be translated in time. There are no words for true knowledge of understanding according to Nietzsche, and since the dawn of time we have used imagery to communicate our ideas and understanding to document our history. Unfortunately, now the “artist” draws fruit baskets. We now live in a digital era where everything is saturated, and the idea and philosophy is lost. Our art is dead, music is dying, and films are being remade. Babylon is fading.
The Quartier Macabre is a concept dealing with my own psychology, philosophy, and the conditions of this inhumane world. The reason I choose to use the macabre imagery, is not to be shocking, but rather to document where we went wrong as a species, and no matter how much you shelter yourselves it is not pretty. This project will be complete the day I die. Artists are here to reflect the epoch in which we live. We seem to forget that. We don't think anymore, we are no longer innovative, we are dying, the human mind is dying. And no one realizes. Someone must document this downfall for the future generations to analyze and interpret. Technology will be the downfall of man, a synthetic wonderland in which I refuse and resist. Its was once said that there is a fine line between genius and insanity, and I am here to see that statement holds truth, we must murder this way of life, Dionysus is waiting. - SEVENBIOGRAPHY
A conceptual artist, concerned with the psychological condition of the now superficial society, philosophy and some historical issues. Since America's history has been a bloody tyranny, Sevens work is often considered powerful and disturbing , but he maintains, that the world is his inspiration and he is only the interpreter. As a former cemetery salesman, Seven soon after developed a disgust for the human race and what it has become. He was committed to a mental institute for psychiatric evaluation for his outlook. After his release, he decided it was his responsibility as an artist, to wage a war against our bland and prudish culture. The messages behind the images are sometimes prophetic and an insight to already existing problems and situations. Seven likes to work with interesting materials, his trademark is actual used morticians wax, (used to rebuild faces of the dead). Embalming tables, prosthetics etc. invoking certain feelings between the art and his audience. "Its import to make people feel, to help them understand my thought process." Seven hopes that his art and writings will inspire and evolve a new generation that is fed up with our contemporary culture.
